A vessel is a sacred form, a sculptural entity as much as a utilitarian object. Vessels are metaphors for the soul. The contour of the material shell is expressive of the immaterial interior. A vessel is a device for containment as well as release. Even a "non-functional" vessel has enormous potential for ritual. Increasingly in recent years, vessels have engaged my imagination.
